Recently, we decided to provide support to the Asia Cycling Academy (referred to below as "the team") through provision of Fuji-brand bicycle equipment.
The Tour de France is the world's largest bicycle event. Cyclists from outside Europe have won 12 of the past 20 titles, but there has never been a winner from Asia. Shinichi Fukushima, who has an international license as a bicycle team manager, believes the primary impediment is the lack of a development program for professional cyclists in Asia. He established the team, and is working night and day to produce world-class cyclists through a staged development program that includes a long-term training camp in Thailand, participation in races held all over Asia, and tours of Europe. The team currently consists of 22 young cyclists from all regions of Asia, including Japan, and selected members compete with Fuji equipment.
As part of our CSR activities, we will provide wide-ranging support for the team as it helps to popularize bicycle culture by developing professional cyclists and communicating to the next generation the glory of taking on the world.
